Once again, I—an architect—sat late at night poring over zoning plans. PDF after PDF. Regulations here, exceptions there. Just to figure out what really applies to my property. And I do this with every new project—again and again. For every single parcel.

I told my partner about it. We researched, compared, and tested. And we realized: There's no tool that can neatly solve this madness. No smart shortcut, no intelligent filter. Planning in the 21st century – and yet everything still feels like 1995.

So we asked ourselves: Are we the only ones? Or are other architects struggling with the same problems? The answer was clear: The problem is systemic – and everyone is feeling it.

We brought our third co-founder on board – a software developer – and set out to change that: A tool that makes a difference.

So my frustration turned into a business idea.

This is how Zonify was born – out of genuine personal need, out of radical pragmatism.
